Services for clients
Borrowing from the NT Library | Opening Hours and Access | Photocopying | Reference Assistance
Clients of the Parliamentary Library Service are:
- Members of the Legislative Assembly and their staff
- Staff of the Department of the Legislative Assembly
- Electorate Office Staff
- Ministerial Staff
- Office of the Administrator
Borrowing from the NT Library
Clients of the Parliamentary Library Service are able to borrow resources from the Northern Territory Library's General Collection.
The loan period for books is 4 weeks, and you may renew

If the Library does not have the book you are looking for, we can arrange either to purchase it or to borrow it from another library.
Books can be picked up from the Library, or you can arrange to have them mailed to the electorate office at no cost.
To register as a borrower, complete this form and return to the library. You will then receive your membership registration barcode number which will allow you to borrow material and access the library's online databases from your desktop.
Opening Hours and Access
The PLS is staffed from:
8 am - 4 pm Monday to Friday - Non sitting days
8 am - 8 pm Monday to Friday - Sitting days
The PLS is closed on public holidays and weekends. Reference assistance is still available on the weekend from the NTL Reference Desk.
NTL opening hours on the weekend are:
1 pm - 5pm Saturday and Sunday
Photocopying
A photocopier is availble to PLS clients to use. It is located in the PLS area (Level 1 of the Northern Territory Library).
Reference Assistance
Reference assistance is available during our hours of operation (Non-Sitting Periods, 8 am -- 4 pm; Sitting Periods, 8 am to 8 pm).

You can visit us in person (Level 1 of the Northern Territory Library - near the secured lift) or you can contact us on 8999 7442 or email us at parlibrary.dlghs@nt.gov.au Searches of newspapers for particular articles or general themes, facts or statistics, background for speeches, Hansard enquiries, biographical and historical information can all be requested over the phone. Let us know how much information you want, what you need it for (if you can), and your timeframe, to ensure a speedy and appropriate response. Urgent information will be faxed or emailed to your office, and confidentiality is assured. |
